Nah, it’s bendy fingers. I emphasized the bend as a bit of an experiment and knew it’d be a tough sell, but yeah both his hands are palms down in that panel.
It really didn’t come out looking that way. Maybe if there was more of a detailed wrist shape to make it clear which way the palm is facing, and if the fingers weren’t bent back quite *that* much. (That crook of the fourth finger especially makes it look reversed.)
It wouldn’t be too late to edit. I remember Gunnerkrigg Court’s author once edited a panel, post-release, when many people commented that (in the stylistically deliberate absence of a mouth line) a chin outline of Renard’s front-viewed muzzle looked like a giant silly grin.
These expressions are so great gosh darn!
The tail that goes “Crunch”. I gather that many of the beasts aren’t happy with the Rook Men.
“Nothing surprises me anymore.”
Hee hee. I’ve always wanted to say that. It’s as good a line as “I fear nothing.” And it’s just as much a big, steaming pile of BS!
Love Sid’s stinky-eye there! Go Bali! Follow your instincts!
Sid’s left hand is missing its thumb in the second panel (or his fingers bend that much). But it’s a minor detail in an otherwise great page.

It would serve him right if his hat actually said something.
