Preorder Bird Boy Volume II now!
on August 10, 2016
Hi Guys!
Hope you all have been doing well. Wanted to give you all a quick update on the comic and where we are!
First off, Bird Boy Volume 1 is out in the wild and available to buy here!
Bird Boy Volume II is available for preorder and will be released at the end of August! We could really use your help getting preorder numbers up, so please shimmy over to amazon and grab a copy!
In a few weeks the site will be undergoing a revamp to prepare for Volume 3, which will begin updating this fall! It’s one of my favorite volumes, so I hope you’ll enjoy it!
See yall real soon!

Mine’s on its way. Well, not literally on its way, but figuratively. It will be on its way as soon as it actually exists, and gets sorted and processed and packaged and sent. Then it will be on its way. And I’m looking forward to it.
Already preordered, as soon as I’d got Vol.1.
I just got my volume 2 book and it looks just as fantastic as the first. Even though I’m on a budget, had to have this story.
Purchased at Target and reviewed too. I hope that helps your sales.
Been a fan of your work since discovered it a year back, but this is my time commenting. (I think.) Not a lover of kid characters, but this one was just so adorable and the images so fantastical that I couldn’t stop reading. The artwork also had something to do with it. Also my love of native folklore tales.
It’s all beautiful.
OK, got my copy today, having almost forgotten I’d pre-ordered it! I was surprised because I’d already had my mail, but it was delivered separately.
And wow, five months already since volume 2 finished on line! Time which you have undoubtedly put to good use in preparing volume 3 for its web premiere, for which I (and I think I speak for everybody else as well) can hardly wait!
Phew, already 5 months?
Well, Vol 3 is almost there so sooon….soon…
Yup, mine has arrived as well. Looking gorgeous!
Yay! Glad you like it!
Just wondering, will we be able to see the full archive on the web like it was pre update?
http://bird-boy.com/archives/
I am thinking about ordering the comic eventually, but it is my aim to read it to the end first, then order if I like how it turns out.
Unfortunately no, the archives are coming down and Vol. 1 and 2 are only going to be available as printed books as well as on Comixology and the Dark Horse site as a digital download.
There’ll be a short comic synopsis of each past volume to remind you of what happened, but the website is only gonna archive the current volume from now on!
Oh okay. Will I be able to buy it all at once when the comic is completed?
Oh yes definitely. There’ll probably be some sort of printed omnibus as well as a digital version of the whole thing all together, though it’ll be some years down the road.
Sure. Take your time. It is fun reading Bird Boy.
It makes me think of those tribal mythology type stories that may be passed down orally. They are full of symbolism, creatures and situations that are hard to believe in real life science, biology and physics, but yet here we are seeing such a world as if the stories were real. That is what makes this comic unique.
I might buy the two volumes long before then, I’m sure.
“Unfortunately no, the archives are coming down and Vol. 1 and 2 are only going to be available as printed books as well as on Comixology and the Dark Horse site as a digital download.”
That is rather unfortunate indeed.
At least it is for everyone who has not had the chance to read your story while it was still free of charge, especially as it has been free of charge in the open for about 5-odd long years. Why only now, what took so long?
I wonder just who might be behind the closing of the archives, if even the author herself thinks this is unfortunate (coughpublisherscough)?
At least your solution with the synopses is a great help for anyone who could not read the first volumes.
Also, as pointed out by MI above, the web archive still has most of the story of volumes 1 and 2 available, as of 11/2016.
Anne, your story is every combination of beautiful and awesome. Thank you very much for having given it to us for free at all.
I like it very much, and I am glad to see that your work is met with success. I will make sure to get myself one of those omnibuses once they are published.
Having said that, please don’t be mad at me for saying the following as well:
I am just doubly glad that from the beginning, I have made it a point to save each page on a hard drive, while I still could.
“…you know, standard practice for webcomics, because one can never know when these things might get taken down?” “Oh you are just being paranoid.” “What’s your point…?”
Just wondering - any hints on what your next project might be?
Well I’m still working on Bird Boy for several more years, I’ve still got 4 volumes to make!
Aside from that I’ve also started work on a little comic called Banquet, which I’m hoping to start updating on the web sometime in the near future.
aaarrgh! I just saw on your twitter you had Birdboy sketchbooks @ Boston comiccon! I don’t suppose you have any left?? I’m in Boston from tomorrow to Friday before flying back to UK.
Ooooh I totally missed your comment last month. D: Hopefully someday you’ll come visit us again and you can grab a sketchbook!
