Well dang!
Random fact: It’s considered very bad form to walk through the middle of that floor-circle there, which is why Lakasi walks around the edge. Before, you know, dropping a bomb on our poor kid’s head.
It’s not important to the story very much, just an interesting tidbit. Those floor-circle-things are pretty typical of Bird-Boy-architecture! Architecture is fun!
Also! There is some (very cute!) new fanart by Airi in the art section: check it out!
Enjoy the page and thanks for reading!

Don’t comment nearly enough but was on like your first live stream for this comic
. Still awesome, still love the art style, love the characters. Keep it up ^_^
Hah wow! That was a while back! I’m glad you’re still keeping up with the comic. Thanks!
Hey, I absolutely love world-building tidbits! Like the update, particularly the little touches like the embers spraying out from the fire there.
Glad you like the tidbits! I so often do a ton of worldbuilding that never really gets into the comic or gets talked about or is even remotely important, but is still fun to do.
Lakasi how could you say that! D: Poor Bali. I hope we get to see what smokewalking is like, even if Bali doesn’t get to participate. It sounds really interesting.
Hmm, you maaaay get to see some of the preparations for it pretty soon :d
Do you intend to publish this fine novel? Where/how do you come about your inspiration for the folklore/world of the graphic novel?
wow derp you already addressed the BB book yesterday. My apologies.
Ah, its okay! To give you more info, the first volume needs to get finished (it should be soon!) and then I’ll be shopping around for publishing options. The printed book should be available through the website once it does get published.
As for my inspiration, I do a lot of reading
I’m constantly reading books on myths and cultures. I’m especially focused on the native cultures of the pacific coast of the Americas (northwest native american, inuit, maya, etc….)I also read a lot of psychology and comparative mythology books in order to try to understand major themes to work them into the world.
Basically I just read/ look at all the stuff I like and it squishes together in my brain and then this comic comes out.
This is absolutely lovely!! I only discovered this the other day and spent each lunchbreak catching up on the story. Now I can’t wait for the next update. I just love your style, and the story, and the characters, and….
Thank you! I am so glad you like it
Interestingly enough, many NHL players have a taboo against walking across their team’s logo — even if it’s taking up a big chunk of the floor smack dab in the middle of the locker room.
At my high school, three thousand kids are impeded by a massive, roped-off seal in the smack-center of the gigantic hallway that is my school. The sports teams kiss the damned thing before a game. Now that I think about it, the seal sounds like a giant, stupid parody of this update.
